Purchasing Agent of a Large Sawmill

What do I tell those who ask me why we use Walthall Oil Co…. A year and a half ago I took over the purchasing department at a large sawmill in GA. My first goal was to make sure we were not wasting money on vendors who didn’t provide the highest quality products at the absolute best price. Since our list didn’t include any vendors more important to what we do, or how we protect our many investments, Walthall Oil Company was where I began. What I learned over the next few days was that I could save a few cents a gallon on any number of products, however what I learned over the following few weeks made this decision a no brainer. I had been in this position for about a month when I found myself calling Earl Kitchens at 10pm on a Saturday night. I forgot we had to have a couple hundred gallons of Nuto on site, on Sunday morning. Earl told me not to panic, and he would call me back. Earl called me back in a few minutes to let me know it would be delivered in 2 hrs. (about midnight) As it turns out my predecessor choose wisely, when he choose Walthall Oil Co., not only do they provide the proven finest line of lubes, oils and fuels in the world with their Mobil products, but the service we receive is always spot on, day, or night.

These products would sell themselves, but when combined with the service we have received from Walthall Oil Co., the professional, friendly people who are always there for us, as well as constantly working to find us the right product for every application. We are saving money, while using the finest products available anywhere and dealing with the most dependable, professional people we could ask for. This is what I say.

Walthall Oil Company has been a valuable partner in helping us keep our trucks on the road and controlling our fuel cost more efficiently. Having on-site fueling capabilities not only allows us to keep a better handle on our fuel consumption, but cuts down on lost time by keeping our drivers from having to pull off their routes to locate fuel during the day. Walthall also supplies us with a full line of lubricants and additives needed to service and maintain our fleet.

I like the fact that Walthall is a local company. I don’t feel like an account number with Walthall. The service is personal and friendly. My sales rep, Joe Young, is always available, very knowledgeable and just one call will take care of anything I might need, as quickly as possible.

At the same time, Walthall Oil is big enough to provide the latest in equipment and technology to help us keep our fueling solutions safe, efficient and running smoothly. The remote monitoring of our fuel supply means I don’t have to worry about accidentally running out of fuel. We had issues in the past, when our previous supplier, who was not local, didn’t get us fuel in time and we had to scramble to keep our trucks running. Since we chose Walthall to take over as our fuel supplier, this has never happened.

We have been doing business with Walthall for over 5 years. We first contacted them about setting up a bulk fuel tank for our transportation fleet of seven trucks. Walthall was quick to give us options and to explain how their equipment loan program works. We were not interested in making the capital expenditure that would have been required and they were more than happy to install all equipment that was needed in a timely manner at no cost to me. Not only did it save us the hassle of shopping for equipment it saves us money on equipment maintenance and a peace of mind that all issues will be handled quickly.
