Walthall Oil Company Promotes Matt Rhodes as President

Walthall Oil Company, a Gold Circle of Excellence ExxonMobil distributor headquartered in Macon, Ga recently promoted Matt Rhodes to President.  Rhodes joined Walthall Oil Company in 1999 as Credit manager and has served in various capacities throughout his seventeen years in the business.

Rhodes will continue the strong leadership modeled by Frank Walthall, III, who will transition into the Chief Executive Officer role. “It’s a true honor to hold this position,” Rhodes said.  “I’ve had the privilege of working very closely with Frank Walthall, III, his sons, Malcolm and Wesley, and other senior management over the years that have led to the success of my career.  Their knowledge of the business, support, and guidance has helped shape the person that I am today.”

“My goal for Walthall Oil Company is to position the company to handle substantial growth in the future while creating a positive work environment for our employees,” Rhodes stated. “I’m excited for what the future holds for our wholesale and retail divisions of our company.  We have an unbelievable team and I have complete confidence that we can all achieve our goals.”

Born and raised in Louisville, GA, Rhodes grew up in a family business where his parents, Don and Jerry Rhodes owned a small retail store.  He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1998 with a major in Business Management. He and his wife Meredith have been married since 2000 and reside in Warner Robins with their two children: Scott (13) and Reed (9).

Rhodes believes in learning customers’ needs so that Walthall Oil Company can provide its expertise to create value and long-lasting relationships. This customer-centric focus will continue to be a driving force of growth as Walthall Oil Company positions itself as the Southeast’s premier retail and wholesale petroleum provider.
