From New to Macon to a New Opportunity

When Cathy Lowery and her husband relocated from Columbus to Macon in early July of 2009, she was starting fresh in a place where she knew no one. Moving to a new city can feel uncertain, but sometimes the right opportunity appears when you least expect it.

For Cathy, that opportunity came through an unexpected connection. Her realtor—who had previously worked for Walthall Oil Company—helped connect her with an interview.

What began as a simple introduction quickly became the start of something life-changing.

A Career Built on Curiosity and Growth

Later that same month, Cathy joined Walthall Oil Company as the receptionist. From the very beginning, she made it a goal to learn as much as possible about the company and how it operated.

She took every opportunity to help others and eagerly cross-trained in different roles across the office.

That dedication led Cathy to transition into Accounts Receivable, where she continued expanding her knowledge of the business and strengthening her skills.

Her career continued to evolve as she stepped into an Office Lead role, where she had the opportunity to train and assist other employees across various positions.

Growing Alongside the Company

Cathy’s journey didn’t stop there. She later expanded her responsibilities into Accounts Payable, eventually being promoted to Office Manager, while continuing to oversee AP operations.

Over the years, Cathy has had the unique perspective of watching Walthall Oil Company grow while growing right alongside it.

From new facilities to expanded services and a growing team, she has been part of the company’s evolution and success for nearly two decades.

For Cathy, the most meaningful part of her career at Walthall has always been the people.
